I had thought blackberry season was over. But there was a stack of boxes of blackberries sitting at Sam’s club.
I picked one up and asked my wife, “Blackberry margarita?’
“Yes.”
I went very blackberry this time. I tasted one berry and, this late in the season, realized the berries were a little light on flavor. So, I added some blackberry liquor and found the result to be most intense. You know it is berry at the very first sip.
For the tequila, I used a dark one [resperado], aged and full of flavor to match the richness of the berries [plus that blackberry liquor].
I was happy. Suzi was happy. And the drinks went well with Turkish Eggplant Boats Topped with Spiced Lamb.
That recipe? Tomorrow!
