Our upstate house was designed around our culinary life. A dining room faces the stream. Our kitchen the meadow. Just outside the kitchen is our herb garden we plant on Memorial Day and use until deep into the fall. We had plans for the garden this year, this Thanksgiving.

The deer apparently gave up on the meadow. They took on the herb garden earlier this week. Our parsley was devoured, cut down by the deer as tidiliy as if we had snipped them off ourselves.

I'm not mad at the deer. It's hunting season. And all they have done is pre-season themselves. Vengeance comes in many forms.
